Choosing a team when I join a match

Bookings

When you join a match, the join sheet may ask Which team do you want to play on?. It's a preference: if there's room, you land on that team; if not, the match doesn't hold a spot for you.

How it works

  • You pick No preference, Team A or Team B and confirm your spot. The choice travels with your spot; it isn't a separate step.
  • Each team has half of the match's spots, rounded up. A team is only offered while it still has a free spot.
  • If you don't choose, you're seated without a team and the organiser places you.

When the question doesn't appear

  • If only one team has room, there's nothing to choose, so it isn't asked: the organiser can move you later.
  • In an open play or a mixed match, the organiser sets the teams.
  • If you join with a partner, both spots stay together and the organiser places them. See joining a match with a partner.
  • If your level is outside the match's range and what you send is a request, no team is chosen either: it isn't a spot yet.

If the team filled up

  • If that team filled while the sheet was open, your preference isn't sent and you join without a team.
  • If it fills right as you confirm, the join is refused with the message "That team has no free seat. If you play as a pair, two are needed.". Open the sheet again and pick another option.
