Beyond the open map, we audited 15 clubs in Cancún and the Riviera Maya by hand: 72 padel courts, 6 tennis courts and 8 pickleball courts.

Padel, tennis and pickleball

How places split across the three sports. A place with two sports counts in both.

Places per sport and their share of the total
  1. Padel51 · 4.8%
  2. Tennis1,005 · 93.9%
  3. Pickleball14 · 1.3%

Counts places offering the sport, not courts: OpenStreetMap does not always split courts by sport.

Padel is growing faster than the map

OpenStreetMap records 51 places with padel nationwide, while the International Padel Federation estimates over 630 clubs and 2,300 courts. Most padel clubs are not on the open map yet, which is why this report keeps what is mapped apart from what is estimated.

Context: what other sources say

Figures published by third parties, each linked. They are directional estimates, not counts verified by MeetAndPlay.

Methodology

Source: OpenStreetMap. Data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL 1.0). Snapshot of September 25, 2026. openstreetmap.org/copyright

A place is a club, sports centre, park or group of courts drawn on the map. A court is each playing surface recorded there.

Per-sport figures count places, not courts: a place with padel and tennis appears in both columns.

We checked the Cancún and Riviera Maya clubs one by one against public sources: each club's address, website and social accounts. It is the only part of the report verified by hand.

OpenStreetMap is edited by volunteers and under-records new and private clubs, especially for padel and pickleball. These figures are a floor, not a census.

This edition publishes no prices: there are not yet enough rates confirmed by clubs to average them per city without making them up.
