Where to play in Hermosillo: areas, climate and open matches

In Hermosillo, what OpenStreetMap maps is tennis. Its two named places belong to the Universidad de Sonora; the rest are groups of unnamed courts, some of them large. The padel and pickleball in the list below are clubs we researched in public sources, each with its source. Here the heat matters more than the area: the question is not just where to play but when.

How to find an open match (reta)

The Universidad de Sonora sports units are the natural place to look for someone to play with. From May to September, set the game for first thing in the morning or for the evening, and check beforehand that the court has lights — none has them tagged on OSM. Posting the match on MeetAndPlay from the place's listing lets you fix the time before you head out.

Climate: when to play

Hermosillo has a desert climate on the edge of semi-arid. June is the hottest month, with a mean daily high of 41.9 °C; January's mean low is 9.8 °C. It rains little (345 mm a year), mostly in July and August. From November to March you can play at any hour; the rest of the year, at dawn or at night.
