«Your court was released» or «The spots didn't fill»: what happened to your payment

Refunds

When a game isn't played and nobody cancelled it, it ends up as expired, and the game screen tells you why. There are two causes, and they read differently.

The spots didn't fill

  • When registration closed some spots were still empty, so we released the court. The screen says This match didn't fill up. Registration closes 2 hours before the start, unless the organiser brought it forward.
  • In a public game with its court held, the court can be released before the close if the game is still short of players. It reads the same way: it didn't fill.

Your court was released

  • The held court ran out, or was already released, before registration closed, so the game isn't played even if it was filling up. Your notice says Your court was released and the game screen says The court for this match was released.
  • Nobody cancelled it: not the organiser and not the club. If the organiser or the club cancels, you'll see This match was cancelled with who did it.

What happens to your payment

  • If you'd already paid your share, we return it. In both cases it's automatic: you don't have to ask.
  • If there was only a hold on your card, it's released. If your spot was still unpaid, you're not charged anything.
  • When the refund settles you get the Your refund is on the way email, with the reason. Timings are in how to ask for a refund and the email is explained in the receipt breakdown.
  • If you were on the waitlist, we tell you too and the wait is closed.
