Cancún's hotels are mostly on the beach strip, but its padel clubs mostly are not. If you are choosing where to stay and you want to play, the question is not which hotel is nicest but which part of town puts a court within reach. This guide ranks the clubs in our records by straight-line distance from three starting points: the Hotel Zone, downtown (Centro) and Costa Mujeres. Distances are approximate and straight-line, not driving times.

Staying in the Hotel Zone

The beach strip is where most visitors sleep, but the clubs sit off it. The closest padel clubs to the Hotel Zone's reference point are: Utopía Padel Cancún (≈ 7 km), Prime Padel Arena Cancún (≈ 10 km), and Journey Padel Arena Cancún (≈ 10 km). Count on a taxi or ride-hail trip rather than a walk, and remember that crossing the city at rush hour takes far longer than the kilometres suggest. Some hotels also have a court for their guests, so ask at reception.

Staying downtown (Centro)

Downtown is the city itself, away from the beach. The closest padel clubs to its reference point are: Sportres MX (≈ 4 km), Journey Padel Arena Cancún (≈ 4 km), and Utopía Padel Cancún (≈ 5 km). It is the choice for a longer stay, or if you want to be nearer the clubs and a more local routine.

Staying in Costa Mujeres

Costa Mujeres is its own strip north of the city. Rafa Nadal Tennis Center Costa Mujeres is the padel club we have there, so it is the obvious pick if your resort is on that coast. It is well north of every club in the city.

How to choose

  • Play a lot, or stay long: downtown or the Puerto Cancún end of the Hotel Zone keep you nearest the clubs.
  • Play once or twice: stay where you want and plan one taxi trip; pick the club by its roof and hours rather than by distance alone.
  • Going in summer or the rainy season: choose a club with covered courts first, then the hotel; our visitor guide lists the roofs.
  • Travelling alone: post or join an open match a few days ahead, so your trip across town ends with a full four.

Getting to the court

Whichever zone you choose, work out the trip before you book the court rather than after. A straight-line distance tells you which club is nearest, not how long the ride takes, and the road between the beach strip and the city can be slow at the start and end of the working day.

Ask the club for its exact address and open it in your maps app before you leave. If you use a taxi or a ride-hail service, plan the return trip too, because your game may end later than you expected and a late booking can be harder to get from a quiet street.

Arrive a little early. Changing, finding the court and meeting the other three players all take time, and a booking is easier to enjoy when nobody is rushing.

If you travel as a group, share the cost of the ride and agree on a meeting point at the hotel, so one late person does not hold up the whole booking. If you play alone, tell the other players in the open match roughly when you will arrive.

Finally, keep your plans flexible on the day. A shower, a storm or a long queue can change the timing, and a quick message to the club or to your match partners is better than turning up unannounced.

Planning around your match

  • Book the court first, then the hotel. If padel is the reason for the trip, the club's hours and roof decide more than the view does.
  • Check the opening hours. Hours differ between clubs and can change by season, so confirm them with the club for the days you travel.
  • Match the hour to the weather. Early morning and evening are the cooler times for an open-air court; our heat and humidity guide has the details.
  • Keep one evening free. Weather and travel can move a game, so a spare slot means a delay does not cancel it.
  • Bring what you need for the court. Pack shoes, water and sun protection in your day bag, so you can go straight from the hotel to the club without returning for anything you forgot, and keep a spare shirt for the ride back.

In short

The clubs are in the city and in Costa Mujeres, not on the beach strip. Choose your base by the distance lists above, then book the club by its roof and opening hours.
