In this guide
Cancún is better known for padel and the beach, but it has more tennis than most visitors expect: a few clubs, a handful of hotel courts and a long list of single courts mapped along the Hotel Zone. This guide lists the tennis places in our records for Cancún, says plainly what we do not know, explains what we can and cannot say about prices, and gives practical advice for booking a court and finding a partner. Court counts come from our records and may be out of date: confirm with the club.
Tennis clubs and courts in Cancún
Our records list 9 named places with tennis in Cancún and Costa Mujeres; 3 have a tennis court count on record, adding up to 13 courts. The count is a minimum, not a census:
- Rafa Nadal Tennis Center Costa Mujeres: 8 tennis courts.
- The Court: 3 tennis courts.
- The Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort: 2 tennis courts.
- Cancun Open Tennis & Padel: court count not on record.
- Cancun Tennis Complex: court count not on record.
- CTC Cancun: court count not on record.
- GEA Tennis Club: court count not on record.
- Kempinski Hotel Cancún: court count not on record.
- Raquet Club Cancún: court count not on record.
On top of the named places, the directory holds 35 tennis places in Cancún that carry no name, with 58 courts between them. 28 of those, with 44 courts, are in the Hotel Zone.
Courts in the Hotel Zone and in resorts
Many of the tennis courts along the Hotel Zone sit inside resorts. They are usually part of the property: guests may play for free or for a fee, and outside players may or may not be admitted. We cannot tell you which, because it is not on record.
If you are staying in a resort, ask at the front desk or the activities desk about courts, rackets and balls, and whether they have lights for the evening. If you are not, call the property before you go. Do not turn up and assume you can walk on: a court inside a resort is private.
A resort may also offer a coach or a clinic. That is a good way to get a game if you are travelling alone, since the staff can often pair you with another guest.
Prices: what we know and what we do not
We only use prices a club publishes by itself on its booking page, with the date we checked them, and we print a figure for a city only when at least three clubs back it.
We do not yet have published rates from at least three clubs in the same city for this sport (data as of October 8, 2026), so we show no range or average: we would rather not print a figure we cannot back up. Once there is enough data, it will appear here.
In practice, a court price depends on the hour, the surface, whether the court is covered, whether there are lights, the length of the slot and whether you are a member. Ask the club for the price per hour, not per slot, and ask what is included. Remember that you split a tennis court between two players, or four in doubles.
Resort courts often have no separate court price, because the cost is inside the stay or an activity fee. Ask.
Heat, sun and rain
Cancún is hot and humid almost all year. Most tennis courts are outdoors, so play early in the morning or after sunset. Midday on a hard court is punishing, and the heat comes up from the surface as well as down from the sun.
In the rainy season, which usually runs from about June to October, afternoon storms can cancel a session. Ask the club about its rain rule. In hurricane season, check the forecast and the club's channels before you head out.
Bring more water than you think you need, a cap, sunscreen, a spare shirt and a towel. A hard court is tough on shoes, and tennis shoes are better than running shoes for side-to-side movement.
How to book
Booking channels differ by club: a website or app, WhatsApp, Instagram messages or a phone call. Look up the club's own channel first and ask for the court price, the length of a slot, the surface, whether the court is covered, whether rackets and balls can be rented, and the cancellation rule. MeetAndPlay does not take bookings at these clubs; you arrange the court with the club itself.
In the high season, from roughly December to April, ask a day or two ahead, especially for the cooler hours.
Finding a partner on holiday
Tennis needs two for singles and four for doubles. On MeetAndPlay you can join an open tennis match someone has already posted, or post your own with the club, the time and the level range you want.
Be honest about your level on the app's 0 to 7 scale so the match is even, and say that you are a visitor. If you are coming back to the sport after years away, our guide to tennis for adult beginners and our guide to playing in the heat will help.
If you also play padel or pickleball, see our comparison of the three sports in Cancún: many clubs offer more than one.
A quick refresher on the game
A tennis match is played to the best of three sets. A set is won with six games, by two clear games, and a game is counted 15, 30, 40, game. At six games each most sets go to a tiebreak. The server has two tries, and serves from alternating sides.
Casual players often agree a short format, such as one set or a first-to-eight pro set, when the court slot is an hour. Agree it before you start, so nobody is left watching the clock.
In short
Start with the clubs in the list, confirm price, surface and access directly with the club or your resort, play in the cooler hours, and use an open match on MeetAndPlay to find a partner.
